We’ll be the first to admit that the mobile version of Showit websites are…well…bless their heart…a bit homely. We’re happy to report that we’ve found a solution, and today we’re proud to announce the launch of a custom designed mobile website division of SMD.
Mobile websites aren’t new. Custom mobile websites aren’t new. So what makes this process special? Upon launching your mobile site, we will place a simple piece of code on your Showit website that will automatically detect a mobile user and redirect them to your mobile version. This means that anyone who visits your site on an iPhone, or Android device will sent to your mobile version in the blink of an eye.
Our mobile sites add-on features full screen galleries, integrated RSS feeds, integrated Twitter feeds (optional), 100% clean code, optimized for search engines, and much much more!*
To kick off the launch we’re giving away a custom mobile site add-on for FREE! All you have to do is send out a tweet with the hashtag #smdmobilesites That’s it! You don’t even have to follow us! You can even tweet whatever you want just be sure to include the the hashtag #smdmobilesites in your tweet. Contest ends at midnight on February 11th. Winner will be announced via Twitter sometime on February 12th.
*Hosting account needed for mobile site.

Sounds wonderful! I would love to see a sample. So will this be integrated into Showit Sites, or do we need to have SMD design our site?
Either way, I love that Showit is moving forward! Thank you!
Hi Jake! This is simply and add-on that we are now offering, and you don’t even have to have us design your main site. This is essentially another site formatted for mobiles and tied to your Showit website. For a sample just visit this url on your phone
http://www.spilledmilkdesigns.com
You’ll be automatically re-directed to our mobile setup.
Thanks for the answer, Nick.
I was just checking…’cause when I view my site on my iPhone, it still looks like do-do.
haha….love the choice term Jake! yes this is a completely different setup so your visitors won’t even know they are being redirected.

Hi, I just visited the Spilled Milk site from an iPad and the URL resolved to iPad.spilledmilkdesigns.com. Is the template that is currently used still the same as wthe one referenced in this post (i.e. Simple Star Mobile)?
Thanks,
Adam
Hey Adam! Nope those are completely different. I have a highly custom HTML5 iPad site for the SMD site, which is not run out of Showit. The Simple Star mobile demo for Showit can be found at http://m-simplestar.spilledmilkdesigs.com
Thanks Nick, I actualy figured it out once I loaded up your Web App. I do have another related question for you…
I’m having a hard time figuring out what might be in the works by either Showit or SMD in regards to updated options for mobile templates/functionality (in particular iPad/Tablet format). Based on posts that I have read on various blogs/Facebook it appears as though Showit’s strategy is “wait and see” what options become available with Adobe’s emerging technologies (Wallaby, Flash Media Server 4.5, AIR 3, etc.) to port/convert Flash type technologies to the iOS platform. It would make sense that they rely on partners (such as SMD) to offer alternatives in the meantime. This leads me to ask: What is the roadmap for SMD’s Mobile site options? I have seen past mentions of some kind of emerging SMD HTML5 project as well as another Mobile/HTML5 collaboration project which now looks to be defunct (fingersites.com)?
Any help on laying out the facts on the above would be most appreciated!
